KOKOCAL QUiCK PANEL Guide

A guide for creating a self-hosted Apps Script library in Google Drive and adding a thin client adapter to Google Sheets, Slides, or Docs.

Published: Aug 12, 2026Updated: Aug 13, 2026
Self-hosted library

Keep the core sidebar and database logic in a library project created in the user's own Google Drive.

One sidebar across apps

Use the same snippet database sidebar in Google Sheets, Slides, and Docs.

Dispatch wrapper

HtmlService calls enter through a client-side dispatch function instead of calling library internals directly.

What this generator is for

This generator creates a client adapter for KOKOCAL QUiCK PANEL.

The generated files include both the library project files and the small client adapter files used in each target Google file.

It is also the first standard pattern for future self-hosted library-based KOKOCAL SCRIPT generators.

Fixed library and sidebar behavior settings

Menu display language

Language used for the Google app menu and dialog or panel.

Client adapter and dispatch design

Library Identifier

Use the fixed Identifier KOKOCAL_QUICK_PANEL_LIB when adding the KOKOCAL Apps Script library.

Generator input

The generator page only asks for the menu language. Insert mode, cache, and row limit are fixed.

Default behavior

Insert writes to the cursor or active cell and replaces selected text where supported. Database reads are cached for 5 minutes and load up to 1,000 rows per tab.

Thin adapter

The generated file exposes menu, diagnostics, and KOKOCAL_QuickPanel_dispatch in the target Google file.

Cross-app insert

The library handles Sheets, Slides, and Docs insertion based on the active app and current selection.

Setup steps

1

Create the library Apps Script from Google Drive

Create a new Apps Script file in any Google Drive folder and save it as a QUiCK PANEL library project.

2

Paste the library files

Create KOKOCAL_QuickPanel_Library.gs and KOKOCAL_QuickPanel_Sidebar.html, then paste the generated library content. Apply appsscript-library.json to appsscript.json if needed.

3

Create a library version and copy the Script ID

After saving the library project, create a version and copy the project Script ID. You will add this ID from each target file.

4

Open Apps Script from the target file

Open the Google Sheets, Slides, or Docs file where you want to use QUiCK PANEL, then open Apps Script from Extensions.

5

Add the self-hosted library

Add the copied Script ID as a library, set the Identifier to KOKOCAL_QUICK_PANEL_LIB, and select the version you created.

6

Create KOKOCAL_Menu.gs and KOKOCAL_QuickPanel_Client.gs

Paste the generated client-side content into matching Apps Script files. Apply appsscript-client.json to appsscript.json if needed.

7

Run KOKOCAL_QuickPanel_setup manually

Select KOKOCAL_QuickPanel_setup from the function dropdown and run it to complete authorization and library diagnostics. Do not run onOpen manually.

8

Reload and open QUiCK PANEL

Reload the Google file, then open QUiCK PANEL from the KOKOCAL menu.

Save the implementation guide

After generating the script, use Download setup guide at the top right of the generated result column to save the information needed for setup. Generated results disappear when you leave the page, so saving the guide before setup is recommended.

Post-setup review points

1

Library diagnostics

Open diagnostics from the KOKOCAL menu and confirm the Identifier, connection status, and version information.

2

Database registration

Register a spreadsheet database with label, attribute, and value columns, then switch databases and sheet tabs in the sidebar.

3

Search and copy

Search by label, attribute, or value and confirm that the selected value can be copied.

4

Cross-app insertion

Confirm insertion into the active cell in Sheets, text range in Slides, and cursor or selection in Docs.

Notes

Self-hosted library setup required

The generated files are split into library files and client adapter files. First create the library project in the user's own Google Drive.

Spreadsheet database permission

Users without read access to the registered spreadsheet database cannot display its data in the sidebar.

Fixed QUiCK PANEL settings

The generator page only asks for the menu language. The library Identifier is KOKOCAL_QUICK_PANEL_LIB, insert mode writes to the cursor or replaces selected text, database reads are cached for 5 minutes, and each tab loads up to 1,000 rows.

Insertion depends on selection state

In Slides and Docs, some cursor positions, selected ranges, or selected objects cannot accept inserted text. Keep copy as a fallback.

Database registration is saved per user

The current implementation saves the database list with PropertiesService.getUserProperties(). This replaces the older DocumentProperties file-shared design.

Ready to generate the script

Create a self-hosted Apps Script library in your own Google Drive and use it to add one shared snippet sidebar to Google Sheets, Slides, and Docs.
